ESG
At SSTCM, we hold sustainability, health and safety as paramount pillars within our operations.
Our company is one of the 10 pioneering participants in Malaysia’s voluntary carbon market (VCM) through the Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX), which provided the platform for trading and facilitation of off-market transactions of carbon credits in August 2023. As a result of our efforts, we obtained independent verifications on the report of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. We prioritise and maintain a high standard of commitment to contribute positively to the environment through responsible operation and ethical principles.
As an organisation dedicated to ethical and responsible business practices, we proudly align ourselves with the United Nations Global Compact and adhere to its ten principles that encompass human rights, labour standards, environmental stewardship, and anti-corruption measures.
Our commitment to sustainability is deeply ingrained in our corporate ethos. Our sustainability framework is built upon the company’s vision to ‘be a trusted global partner to our stakeholders’, with foundations firmly laid on 4 pillars: Economic, Environment, Social and Governance. This is in-line with the principle of ‘People, Planet, Profit’, which describe the company’s commitment in delivering financial, environmental and social performance, enabled by good governance.
ECONOMIC
We focus on quality and value creation
ENVIRONMENTAL
We respect the environment
SOCIAL
We care for the people
GOVERNANCE
We operate with integrity
We have implemented robust systems that prioritize Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations alongside Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) concerns. These systems guide our sustainability practices, ensuring that our operations are conducted in a well-governed manner that is both environmentally responsible and socially conscious.
